Why did you choose a career in Home-Based Personal Care?
”I have always wanted to work in a caring profession because helping people gives me purpose. Home-based care allows me to support people, especially seniors, in the place where they feel safest — their own home.”
In what skills area do you feel most qualified to be a caregiver?
”My strengths are daily personal care, emotional support and observation. I am confident in pressure sore prevention, hydration support, post-stroke care, family education, simple exercises and reporting early changes. I am patient, respectful and always maintain confidentiality.”
What makes you most excited about working with seniors?
”I love seeing small improvements, like a client moving from bed to a chair or beginning to walk with support. Knowing that my care can help someone remain at home with their family is very rewarding.”
What are your main fields of study?
”My main areas are First Aid, Home-Based Personal Care, Basic Palliative Care, Counselling and Family Support, Caregiver Wellness, and Referral Systems and Clinic Linkages.”
