What makes you a good caregiver?
”I am patient, compassionate, and reliable. I believe in treating every senior with dignity and respect. I’m a good listener and I pay attention to small details, so I can notice if someone needs help before they even ask. I also understand that caregiving is about both physical support and emotional companionship”
What makes you most excited about working with seniors?
“What excites me most is learning from their life experiences and being someone they can trust and talk to. Seniors have so much wisdom, and I find joy in bringing them comfort, company, and making their day a little brighter. I want to help them feel valued and cared for..”
In what skills area do you feel most qualified to be a caregiver?
“I feel most qualified in personal care and emotional support. I’m good at assisting with daily activities, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and providing companionship. I’m also calm under pressure and good at communicating clearly with both seniors and their families”
Your best day at work you’ve ever had and what made it so good?
” My best day was when I was working with disabled people. One of the elders asked me to play Shosholoza. When I played it, the elder started crying while laughing, trying to stand, clapping hands and singing along. I could tell it brought back memories. I even cried too because I felt how much it meant to the elder. Then the elder gave me a big hug. That day reminded me that caregiving is about bringing joy, comfort, and connection. Moments like that make all the hard work worth it.”
