What makes you a good caregiver?
“I believe what makes me a good caregiver is my personality, the way I carry myself, my patience, and the practical skills I use every day. I approach the people I care for with kindness, understanding, and respect.”
What makes you most excited about working with seniors?
”I value the wisdom seniors have to share and the opportunity to give back. Being able to make a meaningful difference in someone’s daily life is incredibly rewarding to me.”
In what skills area do you feel most qualified to be a caregiver? “I feel most confident in health literacy, emotional support, and meaningful engagement. I enjoy supporting clients not only with their physical needs but also with their emotional wellbeing. “
Your best day at work you’ve ever had and what made it so good?
“My best day at work was when my patient started walking independently again. She had previously been able to walk and do things for herself, but after becoming ill, she had to use a walker. She struggled with this and often worried that her friends would think she was getting old. We started doing exercises and taking small walks together, and I continued encouraging and motivating her. Then, on 28 December 2024, as I was helping her stand, she said, “Wait, just stand next to me. Today I am confident that I can do it myself.” And she did! The happiness and smiles we shared that day were unforgettable. Seeing her regain her confidence and independence reminded me why I love being a caregiver.”
