Why did you choose a career in Home-Based Personal Care?

”I chose this career because I have a strong passion for helping and caring for others. My experience as a Learner Support Agent and working with medical supplies for hospitals inspired me to continue contributing to people’s well-being. I’ve always wanted to make a positive difference in others’ lives, and this path allows me to do so by offering compassionate, holistic care and meaningful support to those in need.”

In what skills area do you feel most qualified to be a caregiver?

”I feel most qualified to be a caregiver because I have strong skills in showing empathy and emotional support, which help me connect with those I care for. I am confident in patient handling and understand the importance of ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity at all times. I also have knowledge of nutrition and meal preparation, which allows me to promote healthy living for those under my care. In addition, I am well-organized and manage my time effectively to meet each person’s needs with care and attention.”

What makes you most excited about working with seniors?

What excites me most about working with people who need care and support is the opportunity to make a real difference in their lives, giving them hope, comfort, and the attention they deserve. I am passionate about serving others and look forward to showing compassion, empathy, and holistic care in everything I do. Knowing that my support can bring joy, dignity, and strength to someone’s life truly inspires me.”

What are your main fields of study?

I am currently studying Home-Based Care (HBC) at Care College, where I am gaining the knowledge and practical skills needed to provide quality care and support to individuals in their homes. Through this programme, I am learning about personal care, patient handling, nutrition, and holistic support, all of which prepare me to make a positive impact in the lives of those who need assistance and compassion.”
