“ I am naturally empathetic and can attune to the people around me and their needs. I am a good communicator, very understanding, caring and love to feel helpful in making a difference in someone's life. “

In what skills area do you feel most qualified to be a companion?

”What qualifies me as a companion is my personal experience with chemo and surgery for breast cancer. I know what it's like to feel extremely ill and vulnerable and need a comforting and reassuring presence around. This experience has made me very empathetic to others who feel weak. I also understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle because of my experience: eating nutrient-dense food and gentle regular exercise.”

What makes you most excited about working with seniors?

“I would love to feel like I'm making a difference in someone's life by giving them company, connection, conversation, and care. Helping with daily tasks like driving them around is something I would enjoy.”

What was the best day at work you’ve ever had and what made it so good?

”I love the days at work when I feel I've made a difference to someone. I love feeling like I've been useful, helpful, and appreciated. This usually happens when I've been able to help someone with something they couldn't do or understand on their own.”
