"I chose to pursue a career in Early Childhood Development after volunteering at a school with Grade R learners. I fell in love with teaching as I watched the children grow and progress throughout the year—it was an incredible experience, and I knew I wanted to be part of that journey.."
What is - from your point of view - the typical role and responsibilities of a childcare provider in an early childhood development field?
"In my view, the role and responsibilities of a childcare provider are to support a child’s holistic development—cognitive, emotional, social, language, and physical. It’s essential to help guide them toward becoming confident, capable, and well-rounded individuals in the future.."
In what skills area do you feel most qualified to be a childminder?
"I have strong communication skills, excellent time management, and the ability to work well under pressure. Growing up with twin siblings who have autism has also helped me develop a high level of patience and understanding."
What makes you excited to work with children?
"I love watching their progress over time. It's incredible to see how far they've come and how much more confident they are compared to when they first arrived.”
