Tell us more about yourself and why you have decided to pursue a career in Early Childhood Development:

"I possess excellent interpersonal skills, showcased through my experience in serving children as an educating assistant, care provider, and day-mother. My passion for teaching began in primary school, where I chose it as my career path for the first time during career choice discussions. Since then, my aspiration to become a teacher has remained unwavering."

What is - from your point of view - the typical role and responsibilities of a childcare provider in an early childhood development field?
”Teaching children is one aspect, but truly loving them, tending to their needs, ensuring their safety, and nurturing their intellectual growth establishes a profound connection. My journey with children began after completing my matric year in 2019. I initiated my own babysitting service, which deepened my passion and affection for children. Additionally, I gained valuable experience at an ECD center for a year, where I acquired foundational knowledge in Early Childhood Development. My responsibilities included facilitating potty training and fostering the development of both fine and gross motor skills. Moreover, I crafted lesson plans tailored to toddlers aged 5-10 years old.”

What makes you excited to work with children?
”Working with kids is second nature to me and I enjoy teaching and learning from them. I am certified for and have au pair experience and homeschooling skills. Looking after children's day-to-day physical needs, such as feeding, nappy changing, potty training and administering first aid. Providing a range of fun and stimulating activities from reading books to messy play. is always the most exciting component of child care to me.”
